COG is formed from a close alliance of people with very
different skill sets and experience. We combine the
scientific and the creative and have in-depth experience
in both advertising and research. Our varied backgrounds
are part of what makes us unique and able to deliver
visionary solutions to both convention and unconventional
research projects.
Rob Ellis
Rob has worked extensively in both classic research and advertising.
He trained at BMRB, then worked at DDB, Aspect and WCRS, where he was appointed
Board Director responsible for international planning.
He co-founded Navigator, where he was MD of the fastest growing research company in the U K.
He set up Prism in early 2000 as a company that moved beyond the boundaries of traditional research,
both in use of media and analytical approach.
A long interest in cognitive psychology and the philosophy of mind led him to join forces with
Ali and Philip and launch COG in 2007,
to provide neuroscience based solutions to research problems. He is a member of ESOMAR, MRS and APG
Dr Alastair Goode
Ali has built a reputation for bringing techniques used in the academic study of the mind to solve
commercial problems. While in the academic world he researched memory and the implicit mind for
nearly 15 years and completed his PhD researching the application of techniques used in the study of the
Implicit mind to advertising.
He has won awards in both the commercial and academic world for research and is a regular contributor to conferences.
He received the MRS SIlver Medal for 2008 for his paper on the role of implicit ad memory,
and the award for advertising and media research.
Philip Wilson
Philip worked in advertising in the 80s (Saatchi & Saatchi Board Account Director)
and moved into qualitative research in the 90s.
He founded DUCKFoOT in 2000 to develop new ways of understanding how people interact and are persuaded by brands and ads.
This led to the creation of Eye-Mind Research Ltd investigating visual engagement and most recently COG.
Philip is a member of the AQR.
Jacob Masters
Jacob is our web programmer and designer.
He has 10 years experience in internet technologies and has built sites for the
Ministry of Sound as well as many other high profile music and entertainment
venues as well as building large scale research projects for Prism and COG.
Pat Wade
Pat is at the heart of our survey design and analysis and has extensive experience of questionnaire development, online implementation and analysis and is in charge of quality and meeting timelines in all these areas
Before coming to us, she worked in marketing and customer relations for a large retail company in South Africa. Pat is a member of the MRS.
Maria Elvorith
Maria is our web survey designer, with a background in creativity and business.
She has a BA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design and BSc in Information Management, UCL,
and exhibits her artwork on a regular basis.
